Ashlie (Derbidge) Harrison

The past 10 years has been crazy! After graduation I attend Dixie State for 1 semester, just wasnt my "thing". That same year (yes i was pregnant at graduation) in October I had my son Treyson, almost 10. He will be in 4th grade, CRAZY!! Also in the same year...I married my LOVE Joe in November. wow cant believe we have been married almost 10 years as well!!! Joe works in construction...hard working MAN!!! In 2003 I graduated from Medical Assisting school and love what I do! I did my externship at a busy surgeon (5 surgeons) office and was hired on. I worked there for 5 years. In 2005 we welcomed our "sassy, daddy's girl" Skylie. she will have to wait another year to start kindergarten because her birthday is past the deadline. she is not happy with that...but another year of pre-school wont hurt..?? I quit the office in June 2008 to stay home with my kids and kept doing transcription from home. That didnt work out so well, so in Feb 2009 I started working at a Gastroenterology office and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! I work for some GREAT doctors and have some of the best co-workers!!! with being busy with work and kids I still find a little time to do what I LOVE the most, scrapbook and my crafts!!!! No more kids for us, we have one of each and that is fine with us!!! I'll just let my sisters have the babies and ill just hold and love them...then give 'em back!! from reading everyones post, sounds like everyone is doing GREAT and seeing pictures of everyone and their families, I LOVE IT!!! To many more great years.........

Britt-Marie (Buschnyj) Buhanan

Of course I've put off sending this until the day before. That much has stayed the same over the last 10 years, I still love to procrastinate.

After high school I went to Provo to attend BYU. Two years later Kurt returned from a mission and we started dating again. Then he went to Provo to attend BYU and I went off to have my own experience abroad in Spain. When I went back to BYU the next semester we picked up where we had left off and the following fall we were married. After that there was more school, graduations, more school for Kurt, a summer spent in Germany, another graduation for Kurt, and, yes, there is still more school. Somewhere in between all the school stuff Eleanor (now 4) was born, then Gregory (almost 2), and we're expecting another girl in July. So for now, while Kurt works on his PhD, we are hanging out in Southern California, enjoying the nice weather and proximity to the beach, because who knows where we'll end up in a few years.

A lot of you may (or may not) be wondering where I've been. Let's just say the last 10 years (10 years WOW!) have been quite the adventure!

After High School I went to Dixie College to study, then I moved to Florida to work at a motorcycle shop and attend College. I met the crocodile hunter in Florida before he passed. RIP Steve Irwin. I had an accident on my motorcycle and had to go into surgery for some "repair work." Unfortunately I cannot drive anything with two wheels any more my friends call me lobster claw LOL!!!!!

After College in Florida I joined a small band and opened up a vacuum cleaner repair shop. Since the accident life has been good, but things are different now so I ended up moving back to Southern Utah to be close to family. I purchased a ranch near LaVerkin with my savings and now I live here and paint pictures of Utah's landscapes. Feel free to stop by sometime for some BBQ and small game hunting! See you all soon!

TOuch Gold!!!

Logan Fielding

It is crazy to think we have been out of school for 10 years!  That went by quick.  After I got home in 2003 from my mission in South Korea, I finished up my associate's degree at Dixie while working at Desert Hills Intermediate School as a Resource Aide.  I helped students with behavioral issues there and also worked in a group home for adults who have disabilities.  I really enjoyed working in this field so I decided to go into special education.  It was the last thing I ever thought I would be doing for a career.  I moved up to Logan to attend Utah State University and received my Bachelors in Special Education.  While at school I met my beautiful wife Katey.  She was the daughter of the mayor of Logan at the time so my father-in-law really enjoyed cracking jokes about my name being Logan while I lived in the town Logan!  Needless to say it got old really quick.

After my wife and I graduated we moved to the Ogden area where I got a teaching job at Rocky Mtn. Jr. High for a semester and then moved over to Fremont High School for a year.  I helped coach cross country and the distance runners in track while I was at the high school.  I got really tired of the cold and shoveling all of the snow for what seemed like hours a day, so we moved back down to the St. George area in 2008.  We bought a house in Ivins after I got a teaching job at the new Desert Hills High School.  I love it there and enjoy working with the students.  I also coach cross country and the boys' soccer team.  It is been a joy working with young people.

Katey and I welcomed our first little girl, Norah Pearl, into our life 5 months ago.  She has brought so much joy into our lives.  She already is daddy's little girl!

I forgot to mention that I have spent the last 6 1/2 years doing a lot of running.  I have run lots of fun races all over the country and have had some choice experiences while doing this.  Katey is really supportive of this "hobby" and enjoys traveling around to the different races.  Make sure everyone comes out and runs the 5k on Saturday morning :)

I look forward to seeing everyone this weekend.  It should be a lot of fun.

Jessica (Kuhlmann) Martori

Hello Everyone... it just seems like the last 10 yrs are such a blur.  After school i ventured in many different directions.  I moved to Provo but the cold was to much for me so I moved back home.  I met my husband Chris in St.George and we started a family. I worked for IHC for 3 yrs in the ER.  After the birth of our 2nd child we decided to move to the big city of Las Vegas, NV.  I continued working in the medical field but this time it was for a perinatologist office.  Then i decided that i didn't want to sit in a chair the rest of my career so i went back to school to do what I have always loved.  I graduated from Euphoria Institute in August of 2009 and am now a licensed Cosmetologist.  I have been working as a stylist at the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino in the Salon and Spa for almost a year.  I can honestly say that I LOVE my job.  When I am not working, I am at home with my 6 (going on 17) yr old daughter Shelbi, and my 4yr old son Lukas.   Life has definitely been a roller coaster but i have enjoyed every minute of it!!!  Look forward to seeing everyone.

Jed (Rudd) Stanley

I've thrown patriarchal tradition out the window and taken my wife's maiden name as my own. Actually not true and because I've found it so interesting to read other posts I will forgo my initial intention of fabricating my life history with stories of marrying a down-and-out stripper and selling my non-essential organs to save baby seals for the truth.

So here's the deal, since I graduated: did the mission thing (Latvia), did the college thing (SUU), did the summer job in Alaska thing (ground crew for helicopters), met a super smart and coincidentally hot poet philosopher who agreed to marry me (blind date no less), multiplied like rabbits (3 mild mannered monkeys), moved 13 times since marriage, and lived in 6 states.

I studied theatre at SUU (playwriting and directing) and had an original play produced nearly every semester (tooty toot toot of my horn). However, I decided to learn a different and slightly more marketable skill set at grad school. I finished my Master's in Occupation Therapy last year and have been working at a small hospital deep in the heart of the Land of Enchantment (and it's Wizard of Oz enchanting) as an occupational therapist (I don't help people find jobs despite the antiquated title "occupation"). All of this of course pales in comparison to the monumental and infinitely more important work that my wife, Kaydence, completes at home teaching (yes, we're crazy homeschoolers and rather proud of it) and raising our 3 boys, which is totally undervalued despite being a jillion times more meaningful.
I'm excited to get together, we're fond of road trips (aka we'll be there). I hope that this slight update finds you in the depths of life satisfaction.

Emily (Woodland) Fonnesbeck

After graduation, I attended Dixie State College.  It was there that I met my now husband, Brady Fonnesbeck in a chemistry class (insert lame chemistry joke here).    We were both in our last semesters there and I had already made the decision to attend BYU the next semester so he followed me up there.  We were married in April of 2002 and lived in Provo and the Salt Lake area for the next three years.  I finished my Bachelors in Dietetics in 2004 and then completed an internship through BYU finishing in May of 2005.  That same year, Brady finished his Bachelors in Biology Composite Teaching.  The day after I finished my internship we welcomed our first baby, JC (now 5).  Brady was offered a job at Pine View Middle School teaching Earth Systems so we moved back to St. George.  When JC was about 8 months old, I started teaching nutrition classes at night at The Body Shop Spa, now known as The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge in Ivins.  It has been the ideal job for me and I really enjoy it and the new opportunities that have come with it.  Brady transferred to Desert Hills High School the year it opened and has taught biology, chemistry and physics there for the past couple of years.  He also coaches freshman football.  Just last month he finished his Masters in Educational Leadership through SUU.  But our most exciting news lately has been the adoption of our second baby, Ben, in January.  It has been an amazing experience and we are so blessed to have him.  Our lives are busy and a delicate balancing act but we love everything we do!

Ken Ence

Hey, everyone!  While I won't be able to make it to the reunion, I wanted to drop in my update as well.  Let's see, in 2000 after high school I took off to BYU for a year of college.  In August 2001, I left to Costa Rica for a mission.  It was a great experience in my life and one I will never forget.  After returning in August of 2003, I jumped right back into school at BYU and completed my studies there, graduating with a degree in biology.  I graduated in 2007 and continued straight into dental school in San Francisco where I have been since then.  Now, yet another graduation is coming up fast here and I've got a job lined up practicing in Colorado, which is where I expect and hope I will be for a long time to come.

Somewhere in that mess of schooling, I met my wife, Barbara.  She is from Hawaii and was my neighbor at BYU.  We were married in April of 2005 and just celebrated our 5 year anniversary (please save all Ken and Barbie jokes for the end).  Our first daughter, Laura, was born in December 2006 and our second daughter, Violet, joined us last September (9/9/09 at 9:00 PM, I kid you not).  We've felt incredibly blessed with our little family.  Hopefully somewhere in the future it will also include a son!

So after 10 long years of mostly school, we will be in the St. George area in late June for a brief, though well-deserved respite before beginning the long Ence tradition of dentistry.  Best of luck to you all!

Heather (Heger) Wadsworth

It is so fun to see how you are all doing :)
Well, I went on to Dixie State and received my Associates Degree of Science in 2002.  After graduation I went on a trip with my best friend, Josh, to California where he proposed.  We were married on August 3, 2002.  I was then accepted into Dixie's Dental Hygiene Program and graduated in 2005.  Now that we were both done with school we decided to buy a new home in Washington and start a family.  Addilyn Grace was born on January 27, 2006.  She was the best baby and is a very sweet girl!  She is our little angel.  Addilyn just graduated from her first year of preschool (tear).  Afton D was born on  June 9, 2008.  He is so much fun!  This kid has a ton of personality and a great sense of humor.  We are also expecting our third baby later this year.  Whaaa hooo, why not?  It keeps things interesting.  Josh received a position with Washington County as an appraiser and manages their pictometry projects.  I am now seeing patients only one day a week with Twiss Family Dentistry.  We enjoy spending time as a family, going to our family cabin on Kolob, wake boarding and I always seem to have something crafty up my sleeve.  Here's to 10 more years of BLISS!

Nycole (Driggs) Rosen

Hello friends! Many of you may not remember me, since I bailed out a little early in senior year. But here's a little update on what's been happening since then. I completed my high school credits through BYU's Independent Study and graduated in January of 2000. I was married in March of the same year to my sweetheart, Aaron Rosen.

We moved up to Salt Lake where he has been in law enforcement and radio and I have worked in the staffing industry. I spent a few years as a corporate trainer teaching employment law and other staffing related workshops. I loved my job, but it required extensive travel and when my son was born in 2005, I decided to make a change. I continued with the same company doing remote training via webinars on conference calls. I am now in my 11th year with the company and have recently moved to the IT department. (Yeah-I'm a computer geek!) I will be graduating in July with my BS in Business Administration.

We live in Saratoga Springs (Utah) where Aaron is a Corporal in the police department. It's a small town, but we are close enough to SLC that we can get out into civilization whenever we want to. We love our little corner of the world and especially enjoy the views of the lake!

Aaron and I have a five year old son, Jordan, who is a delight! He will start kindergarten in the fall--which he is thrilled about. He is also very excited to come play next week at the park. The child lives to play with friends...so look forward to a new buddy for your munchkins! See you all next week!

I too will echo the fact that I can't believe it has been 10 years!!  After reading through people's posts I couldn't help but feel blessed to be a part of the greatest graduating class ever.  You guys rock!  After my mission to Costa Rica I hung around St. George for awhile doing a little bit of this and that, but mostly traveling with 3 on 3 Live running the tournaments.  I finally decided to go back to school in 2004 - 2005 at the University of Utah where I met my amazing wife Shirlene.  She had recently graduated from the "U" with her bachelors in Nursing when I met her and was working at the Huntsman Cancer Research Hospital.  She loves working with Cancer Patients.  After a year of living in Salt Lake we bought a house in Provo where we still reside today.  Jonathan was born October 2006 and fifteen months later Sarah was born in Febuary 2007.  They are best friends, and honestly are by far the cutest kids in the world.  They fill our home with joy everyday.  I was hired in 2007 by Costco to work in the Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.  Recently I was promoted to work as an Outside Marketer for Costco and have enjoyed working for Costco as it is "everyone's favorite store".  I graduated from UVU back in Decemeber 2009 in Secondary History Education and hope to find a High School History Teaching Job soon.  I look forward to reading more about the many exploits of the Class of 2000 as you continue to post updates on the blog.

Jon Walter

Hi.  I'm Julie.  Jon's making me write this, so here we go.  :)  I think I can speak for Jon (since I've been by him for most of the last 10 years), when I say that the last 10 years have been fantastic.  After graduating from high school Jon went to Dixie State College for a year before leaving on his mission to Portugal in the summer of 2001.  We had dated for a few months before he left, and when he got home in 2003, things just fell into place and we were married 5 months later.  After he returned home he started working for NAI Commercial Real Estate.  We were able to graduate with our Associate's Degrees and walk through the "D" together in 2004.  We bought our home in St. George in July 2005 where we've lived ever since.  Jon received his Bachelor's in Business Administration in 2006 from DSC.  We have the 2 sweetest kids in the world.  Lizzy is 5 and will start Kindergarten in the fall, and Sam in 8 months.  They both look just like their dad!  Jon is the best husband and the sweetest dad.  Lizzy and Sam adore him.  We're very excited to see everybody soon!
This picture is from Lizzy's dance recital a couple of weeks ago.  "Aunt Ang" is also in the picture.

Coryell (Madsen) Potter

Hello friends of 2000!

I have been reading and enjoying everyone's blogs so much that I have put off writing one myself:)  I decided to get to it, so here goes...

After graduating from Snow Canyon, I accepted a scholarship to SUU in Cedar City.  I had the most wonderful roommates, we called ourselves the B-5 girls, and we still keep in touch to this day (hi Rachel).  I returned to St. George, finished my Associates Degree, and got accepted into Dixie State's first Elementary Education Program.  I have always wanted to be a teacher, probably because of all the good teachers in my life.

I put secular learning on hold to serve a full time mission.  I packed my bags and grabbed my "sticks" and left for the great OHIO!  I never could have imagined how those 18 months could transform me.  I met some incredible people who changed my life forever.

When I got home I finished up my degree at Dixie, and got my first teaching job!  I am about to wrap up my fourth year teaching 4th grade at Coral Cliffs Elementary here in St. George.  During these working years I have also become very studious, I completed my Master's Degree last May.

In March 2009, I also met and married my sweetheart Robb Potter.  We met at the adult singles ward.  Singing in choir and quartets brought us together (so Charla...there is hope!)  We have only been married just over a year now and I am so happy he found me.  No children of our own YET, but seeing all your family photos is highly motivating.

I look forward to mingling with most of you at the reunion!

Emily (Gubler) & Nate Caplin

After high school, I(Emily) attended Dixie and later transferred to SUU where I graduated with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education.  In August of 2003 I married my sweetheart, Nate Caplin, after he served a Spanish-speaking mission in Long Beach, California.  I taught 3rd grade for four years, while Nate attended school and worked.  Since the birth of our daughter Madeline in 2008, I have been working part time from home for the Washington County School District as an Online Supervising Teacher.  Nate graduated from BYU Law School in April 2010 and will earn a master’s in American history this December.  Nate loves teaching Writing and Rhetoric at BYU and hopes to have many more teaching experiences in higher education.
A couple of years ago, we traveled to Israel where Nate studied law at Bar-Ilan University.  Last summer, Nate introduced me to the Deep South—we lived in Mississippi where Nate worked for a civil rights law firm.  We loved it there.  The people were kind, the weather was hot, and the food was delicious.  It was amazing to see so many seafood and BBQ restaurants on every street!
We can’t wait to see everyone this summer!  It will be so much fun catching up with all of you!

Spring (Hall) Black

We are getting O - L - D!
After graduating High School I attended the University of Utah for 2
years and than transferred to Utah State where I graduated in Finance
May 2005. My Husband (Ryan) and I were married in June 2005 after
dating for 9 months.  My husband went back to school to earn his
Masters in Molecular Biology while I worked as an Account Manager in
Logan until our daughter (Poppy) was born in June 2007. Ryan was
offered a job with a Bio Tech company, creating "Green Energy"  in
Houston shortly after Poppy was born, and we've lived here in Houston,
TX ever since.  Since moving to Houston we have been blessed we two
beautiful sons Joseph, whom we lost at child birth, and Oliver who is
a healthy and happy 3 month old. For the most part I spend my time
chasing my crazy kids around, but do get out a couple times a week to
teach aerobics at LA Fitness. We are a happy little family enjoying
our "ever after."

We head out west a couple times a year and generally try to plan it
around the snow season and family so unfortunately the class reunion
doesn't fall in either category so we won't be able to make it. I'm
sure it will be a blast though...

Emily (Esplin) Chapman

Are we really this old?... When did that happen? It is so fun to see what everyone has been up to. Great job on putting together this blog (whoever is in charge of it). Since high school I moved to Provo, Salt Lake and back home when I finally decided I wanted to go to USU. I moved to Logan and changed my mind AGAIN ha and went to hair school instead. I moved back home after a couple years (too much snow for me) and met my amazing husband at the salon I was working at. We were married in 2006 and have been having so much fun for the last four years. In 2008 our little miracle baby Cru came into our lives much earlier than expected and things have been busy, crazy and fun since. A month ago we had our second cute little man Bo and things have gotten even more busy and even more fun. I am now a stay at home mom and couldn't be happier with how my life is.  I can't wait to see everyone and catch up on everything that is going on!

Ten years... CRAZY!

Amelia (Laws) Duke

After graduation I attended Dixie College for a year and a half.  I spent one summer in Jackson Hole, WY working at an old fashioned photo studio and a candy shop.  The next year, I decided I really wasn’t happy at Dixie, so I moved to Orem to attend UVSC.  I was there for a year, graduated with an associate degree, and had roommates who changed my life.  They ranted and raved about how marvelous Utah State was, so off I went.  I spent the next 4 years in Logan where I attended school full-time, and was lucky enough to meet and marry my husband Brent.  It was there that I found my passion and finally decided on a major.  I graduated in 2006 with a BS degree in Elementary Education, and then in 2007 with a MEd degree in Deaf Education and Communicative Disorders.  After graduation, I found a great job in South Carolina, and we moved across the country.  In August 2009 we had our first baby, Tylie, and she is the joy of our life!  My husband is a full-time student at the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) working toward a Master degree in Athletic Training.  I teach reading, English, math, transition (and anything else that comes up) to a group of deaf students at a local high school, and I LOVE my job!  I also work part-time for a photography company taking team, individual, and action pictures at sporting events.  We plan to be in the South for one more year, and then hopefully back out west…we miss the mountains!  I wish I could make it to the reunion, but I can’t wait to hear all about it.

Melissa (Merrill) Spragg

After graduation I was ready to go play college volleyball up north...  but  just as I was headed up the head coach was fired and the new coach already had her roster in mind and I was not on it...   by the time all of this drama happened it was too late to sign on anywhere else.  I am sure my life would be entirely different if I had been able to go and that is the only thing that keeps me from being sad about it!   I moved out and attended Dixie College for a bit, then took a detour and went to Hair School here in town.  I married my best friend and 'high school sweetheart' Curtis "Bubba" Spragg after he came home from his mission in Southern Italy!   Then I started working...  a lot!  I got a job working at a salon (part time) and at Southern Utah Title (full time) and I coached the JV Volleyball team at Snow Canyon (5 years)!  Curtis got on with the St. George Police Dept. (5 years now) and loves what he does!  In the mean time I switched from the title company to the 2nd floor and went to work for Re/Max in Real Estate.  We built a home in Washington Fields and started expanding our family.  Lana Morgan is 4 and is so excited to go to Kindergarten!  She is a total tomboy and my very best friend!  Caleb Gabriel is 2 and the sweetest thing to walk the earth! (at least that is what his primary teachers say)  He really does melt your heart!  I quit the coaching and the real estate when we had Caleb in 2008 and now I am enjoying life as full time mom with a few part time hobby jobs!  I do hair from my salon at my home and teach Photoshop Elements classes.  I am still playing volleyball every chance I get and within the past 2 years have grown to enjoy competing in triathlons and road biking.  Curtis is preparing for a half ironman this summer, the St. George marathon, and then the St. George Ironman in 2011!

I have loved reading about everyone and hope more people post!  We are excited to see everyone and their cute families!  See you soon!
